DESCRIPTION:
The focus of the workshop will be staying in the target language throughout class and providing strategies, and ideas for lesson planning and helpful tips on holding students accountable for their learning in the LOTE classroom. Many of these areas will be modeled as well.

Description
In this course teachers will celebrate the mid-point between the school year that has just finished while proactively looking forward to next school year. This course will focus on self-reflection and then collaboration of World Language teachers as we discuss what worked, what didn’t, and how we can make this year and next a success for our students.

Proficiency 101
In this course teachers will be introduced to proficiency-based learning. Key terms will be identified and real classroom examples of best practices will be explored. In the ideal foreign language classroom teachers push students towards proficiency every day, every lesson, and with every activity and assessment. This course will prepare teachers to move forward in their instruction towards a proficiency model.

Level 2 and Beyond: Putting World Languages on the Map
The World Language classroom is the perfect place to focus on literacy and support students in cross-curriculum instruction. This course will focus on how World Language teachers can use their classrooms as an opportunity for instructional excellence through communication, collaboration, expression, and first and second language acquisition (SLA).

Station Sensation
In this course teachers will discover best practices for setting up review stations in the foreign language classroom. They will be given 15 different examples of effective stations, and will discuss when in the school year is the best time to review concepts. Review and mastery are essential pieces of the proficiency model.
