TITLE: Home Grown and Good:  Leveraging OUR Texas TEKS to Move the Needle on Language Proficiency!

DESCRIPTION: So, you have a TEKS-aligned curriculum with units, but how does the teaching translate from the unit document to instruction in the classroom?  Where do you start?  On the first day of this two-day institute, participants will learn the step-by-step process for deciphering the learning goals from a TEKS-aligned unit, and they will learn how to pace the student expectations from the TEKS + communication on an instructional calendar.  On the second day, participants will experience and analyze the success criteria in a TEKS-aligned lesson, and they will work in groups to create TEKS-aligned lessons that fit within the first unit of the school year.  Participants are highly encouraged to attend with their district teams.  Learning is better when we are together!
